Japan Shirt 20th Anniversary

Recently, Adidas Japan KK together with Japan Football Association jointly released Japan Shirt 20th Anniversary to commemorate the victory that Japan national team reached the final of the World Cup for the first time twenty years ago. Therefore, that design of classic “flame jersey” was used again in the new shirt. It is expected to encourage Japan national team to succeed once again.

November 16, 1997 was a landmark day in the history of Japanese soccer. Japan team players wearing the classic “flame jersey” defeated Iron team 3:2. It was the first time that Japan national team had reached the Final Stage of the World Cup. The victory made the whole Japan joyful.

Japan national team has become a strong team in Asia. It got four titles of AFC Asian Cup in 1992, 2000, 2004 and 2011. Accordingly, Japan has been a leading country in Asia not only Japanese football development, but also football culture including football shirts.

Japan Shirt 20th Anniversary is traditional samurai blue. As previous shirt, flame patterns are printed respectively on two sleeves. The bright red triangle is under the white collar. Three white Adidas stripes are put on both sides of the shirt, showing current fashion. Adidas logo and the JFA crest are shown on the shirt. There is a small Japan national flag over the JAF crest and the word “Japan” under it.

The new jersey with ultra-light material makes players more comfortable and faster in the game. Made from recycled polyester, it can reduce the impact on the environment by reducing carbon dioxide emissions, which has played a major role in Adidas’ environmental protection.
